“Biu un tros de Sort” wine route, landscapes and cheeses …

In 2006, the Natural Way of Sort and the Valley of Àssua, 47 km, which cover a good part of the municipality with a surface area of ​​105 km2, and which include different variants or sections such as the proposed route, were launched. “Biu” un Tros de Sort is a combined hiking and wine tourism route.

We will leave Sort by car to get to the Celler del Batlliu, located next to a hut, between vineyards, with spectacular views of the valley of Sort and El Batlliu. Here we will tell you everything about the vineyards and how their producers have been able to “put this piece of land in a wine bottle” like Biu, because Biu with B is not a misspelling but a wine name that gives rise to this game of words that give name to the route.

At pleasure, as we say in Pallars, or what is the same, taking a leisurely stroll, we will be captivated by the landscape permeated with peoples, people and history, descending along the old dry stone path that was formerly the communication route by traveling from village to village, when there were no roads. On the way we will also be entertained by knowing the flora of this place and almost without realizing it we will arrive at the Castle of the Counts of Pallars, in Sort, an exponent of a long historical period and convulsions of mountains in rebellion.

Continuing along the old town, we will discover some of the historical treasures of the town of Sort and its local produce shops. We will continue along a championship river, the Noguera Pallaresa, until we reach the cheese factory Tros de Sort, where we will tell its history, its product and you can make a complete tasting of wines and cheeses with all the taste of the land, of the origins !.
