Rediscovering the Tor valley, authentic from antiquity to the present day!

The Tor valley, geographically, is part of the Vall Farrera, and as such is also included in the Natural Park of the High Pyrenees, however, we consider that it deserves a separate treatment for a series of peculiarities that The town of Tor and its valley are special:

-its close to Andorra which is only 6 km away and can only be accessed by track -the road does not reach it either from the village of Alins (Vall Farrera), becoming one of the few villages where the road does not reach -its label of a smuggler’s area, like any town next to Andorra, but in its case it also has a route to walk, which bears its name, the Smugglers’ Route. -and its popularity due to the novel “Tor, thirteen houses and three dead”, by Carles Porta, which tries to investigate the crimes that occurred in the 80s-90s, still to be solved and which have led to media coverage , the book has been translated into several languages and has even been broadcast on Catalunya Ràdio.

-the resistance, in spite of everything, of the inhabitants of Tor to that those of outside decide their future, that has impregnated the place of a personality that we will not find in any other place. From all these findings that more or less everyone knows or can know, we plan to delve into a territory that beyond these circumstances that have put them on a map without choosing, has much more interesting attributes such as its history, the nature that surrounds it and the hospitality of its people.

We will leave Sort at 10 am. and we will move by 4×4 vehicle to La Vall Farrera for when we reach Alins, take the narrow road to La Vall de Tor which will later become a track. Upon arrival in Tor we will make a brief stop to confirm lunch, because even the food, there, has the taste of authenticity, and we will continue, with the permission of the neighbors, because the mountain of Tor is still private, by the Rabasta Valley to the Roc de Llumeneres and the port of Cabús, border with the highly urbanized Andorra, to return down the Plaià Valley, to Tor, where we will have lunch. After lunch we will walk around Tor, visit its ancient church and review its history, to return to Sort in the afternoon.
